Nick Diaz willing to fight Jason Miller at catchweight
Strikeforce welterweight (170lb) champion Nick Diaz would be willing to fight middleweight (185lb) Jason “Mayhem” Miller at a catchweight, his trainer told mmajunkie.com in an article released Tuesday
23 November.

That removes one of the main obstacles to the highly-anticipated fight happening. The two have a heated relationship and both have been accusing the other of ducking the fight, which thus far hasn’t happened
because of the difference in weights.

"If that fight was offered, yeah, we'd probably take that fight. We'd just have to look at what weight class it's going to be in, and apparently, 'Mayhem' can't make 170. We're not going to accommodate going
to 185. It doesn't really make that much sense to call someone out, and the champ has to go to your weight class,” said Cesar Gracie, who trains several prominent fighters along with Diaz..

Fans and both fighters have called for a fight ever since the infamous 17 April Strikeforce event, where Diaz’s team-mate Jake Shields beat Dan Henderson in the main event. After the match was over, Miller
snuck into the cage and popped up behind Shields during an interview and asked Shields for a rematch of an earlier bout in which Shields had beat Miller. It sparked off a melee which saw Diaz and others knock Miller to the ground and kick him on live television.

Gracie revealed Diaz would likely be fighting on 29 January 2011, but that no opponent had been finalized.

"I was talking to Strikeforce a little bit about it today," said Gracie. "No opponent has been named or anything. But he's going to fight on that date, and hopefully Fedor (Emelianenko) will be part of it
too. It could be a really exciting time."

With the potential involvement of Emelianenko, the promotion’s biggest star, it could be a big enough card to get Strikeforce back on CBS television. Their last card shown on that network was the 17 April
event.
