Nick Driebergen achieves Men’s 200m backstroke gold: Day four – 2012 Netherlands Championships
Nick Driebergen of E ON-NZA achieved gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on concluding day of the 2012 Netherlands Swimming Championships in Amsterdam on Sunday, June 10.
Driebergen astonished the crowd with his dazzling performance in the 200m event, where he added another gold medal to his tally. He stayed considerably faster from his opponents throughout the discipline and finished first in the event.
He remained almost 10 metres ahead of his closest opponent on the finishing end and secured gold medal of the discipline with the timing of 1 minute and 59.26 seconds.
The champion was trailed by Jos de Graaf of EIFFELswimmersPSV, who was nearly seven seconds behind and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 06.88 seconds for silver medal.
Third fastest spot of the event was secured by Sverre Eschweiler of E ON-NZA, who remained 0.17 seconds slower and tapped the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 07.05 seconds.
Similarly, Eschweiler remained 2.30 seconds ahead of Sven Kardol of Nuenen, who failed to secure the podium and finished fourth in the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 09.35 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Marco Uppelschoten of De Houtrib, who was 2.37 seconds behind and ended his race with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.72 seconds.
Uppelschoten was trailed by Ruben Dekker of De Dolfijn, who remained 0.78 seconds behind and hit the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 12.50 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh position of the discipline was obtained by Arjan Hanse of AZ&PC, who remained 1.58 seconds behind and concluded his race with the timing of 2 minutes and 14.08 seconds.
Eighth position of the discipline was secured by Chris Bolding of ZPC Bikkel Hoogeveen, who remained 2.33 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and tapped the finishing blockade with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.41 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the conclusion of all listed events while the position holders were invited on the victory stand for medals and accolades at the prize ceremony of the tournament.
