Nick Driebergen snares Men’s 50m backstroke title: Day four – 2012 Netherlands Championships
Nick Driebergen of E ON-NZA snared gold medal of the Men’s 50m backstroke on final day of the 2012 Netherlands Swimming Championships in Amsterdam on Sunday, June 10.
Driebergen showered his expertise in the single lap backstroke discipline and faced no trouble in snaring gold medal of the discipline. With his impeccable efforts, he remained almost half a body length ahead of his supporters and reached the finishing end
for first position.
He continued his nerve-wrecking pace throughout the event and hit the finishing end for gold medal by producing a time of 25.58 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Kersten Jan of De Columbiaan, who remained 0.70 seconds apart and tapped the finishing blockade for silver medal by submitting a time of 26.28 seconds.
Third spot of the race was secured by Stijn Depypere of BRABO, who stayed 0.44 seconds apart and made his way to the finishing wall with an effort of 26.72 seconds for bronze medal.
The bronze medallist was followed by Jesse Puts of Zwemlust-den Hommel, who was just one stroke apart and surfaced on the finishing end with an effort of 26.89 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth spot of the event was secured by Sverre Eschweiler of E ON-NZA, who was only 0.06 second slower from his foregoing finisher and submitted a time of 26.95 seconds.
Sverre was chased by Ramon Fredrik of Orca, who was only 1.10 seconds slower from upsetting his preceding swimmer and reported a time of 28.05 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh finest spot of the race was secured by Ruben Dekker of De Dolfijn, who was almost half a second apart and reported an effort of 28.51 seconds.
With his exhausting efforts, Dekker remained marginally ahead of his following swimmer, John Smit of RTC Dordrecht. Smit remained only 0.03 seconds apart and hit the finishing wall for eighth position with the timing of 28.54 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship played a pivotal role in the flourishing of their national talent, as there were able to compete with each other in their respective events before the forthcoming 2012 London Olympic Games.
