Nick Faldo claims Luke Donald will go all the way to the top to land the Masters title
Nick Faldo has given his recommendation in favour of the world number one Luke Donald and says that the Englishman has probably the best chances of landing the title this year.
Faldo, being an Englishman himself, has definitely given his recommendation for the countryman for obvious reasons but it does not go without saying that Donald has played brilliantly throughout the last season.
He pulled in majestic performances at the most tense moments and came out victorious, displaying immense composure and resilience.
Faldo said, "Luke is one of the guys who has won in the last month, he played great last year and he was right there. I think Luke has all the qualities that you need".
This is the first time Britain has been represented in the event so strongly and three of the four top players from the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) are from Great Britain.
Faldo, the last Englishman, who won the coveted green jacket, is a little surprised over the apathy of the English players and expressed his dismay that none of them came over for his suggestions.
He added, "I am surprised at that because you never know what might come out of it. I was a good listener. Then you filter out what you want to use. Maybe one word or one line makes sense".
At the same time, Faldo rejected the claim that Woods has a greater chance of landing the title as the former world number has done it for no less than four times in his grizzled career and is currently on an upsurge in form and putting.
Faldo reckons that the field in this year’s Masters is probably the toughest and Woods will now have to come out from his era of unanimous domination of the sport where he went over to win 14 major titles in the past.
Faldo said, “The big difference now is that in the past. Now there are 10 guys he's got to beat and maybe they are not as scared of him nowadays as they used to be”.
Out of the six major titles to his credit, the Englishman has won the green jacket for no fewer than three times and is considered one of the most successful English golfers when it comes to major events.
