Nick Flanagan lands the BMW Charity Pro-Am on Nationwide Tour
Australia's Nick Flanagan, a once blistering player on the Nationwide Tour, captured his long awaited Nationwide title on Sunday when he landed the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation, defeating countryman Cameron Percy in third Playoff hole.
Flanagan, who also won the title back in 2007 when he surged to top-ten performers on the Nationwide Tour, has been battering  form vows for a considerable period of time since his last victory in the Xerox Classic the same year.
Finishing for 15-under 271 in a tough once-a-year better-ball format which is organised on three different courses, Flanagan hit a cameraman on his third playoff approach shot, which almost putted the ball.
He said, "Sometimes it's better to be lucky rather than good. You've got to take every break you can get out here. The birdie putt was pretty much straight-away and I had a pretty good read. As soon as I hit it I felt like it was going in. It bobbled on
the way but it had enough speed to get there".
He birdied the hole to lift the $108,000 title and will now be hoping to gain more traction in order to build up momentum to eventually qualify for the mainstream PGA Tour at the end of the year.
Flanagan had a bad run since the start of the year when he missed the halfway cut in his only start in the current season the Chile Classic.
He added, "It's pretty amazing. I didn't feel like I was playing that well coming into the week. I decided to come out and try to just get the ball in the hole, which I haven't done for a long time”.
The sturdy Australian has now soared to number 11 on the Nationwide Tour Money list and will be hoping to somehow stay in the top-25 till the end of the season.
Flanagan has a fairly good chance of achieving the same considering that two-third of the season is still in pending for the rest of the year.
The Playoff drama at the event was the first Playoff hole of the tour in the current season and the third Playoff scenario has happened after a lapse of four years.
