Nick Foles not out for season
Arizona Wildcats starting quarterback Nick Foles is reportedly not out for the rest of the season. Foles suffered an injury to his knee during his team’s game against the Washington State Cougars on Saturday 16 October. A defensive lineman fell on Foles'
leg and rolled over the knee, taking the quarterback out of the contest early in the first quarter.
The injury appears to be fairly serious, however Arizona head coach Mike Stoops refuses to go into detail and maintains that Foles will not miss the rest of the season.
Foles is said to have returned to his home in Austin, Texas to relax and undergo some therapy on the knee. Stoops says the quarterback is going to keep the team updated.
“I’ll know next Monday what the likelihood of his earliest return would be. He’ll be back when he’s ready. It’s not a season-ending injury. We anticipate him back. We’ll know how he reacts to certain treatment throughout the week.”
Regardless of whether or not Foles will be out for the remainder of the season it has been made clear that he will at least be out for the club’s next game against the Washington Huskies on Saturday 23 October.
Foles has been outstanding this year, helping to pull his team out of obscurity and into an 18th place ranking in the Bowl Championship Series standings. Moreover, the Wildcats are currently ranked ninth in the country in passing yards per game
with 308.8. Much of their success through the air can be attributed to Foles' completion rating of 75.3, which is second best in the nation.
Foles will be replaced by junior Matt Scott when the Wildcats take on the Huskies. Scott filled in for Foles against the Cougars and had a productive game going, 14-20 for 139 yards.
So far this season with Arizona, Foles has managed 1,600 passing yards and nine touchdowns.
