Nick Fry thinks Mercedes will have more pressure in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Mercedes chief executive officer, Nick Fry has said that they are going to be under greater pressure to develop a competitive car for the 2013 Formula 1 season after the arrival of Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton has been at McLaren for the last 14 years, but is now going to leave his team at the end of this year and has planned to move to the Brackley based team in the next season as Michael Schumacher’s replacement.
On the other hand, the seven-time world champion has taken retirement from F1 for the second time.  Furthermore, the British driver will drive alongside Nico Rosberg who has been his very good friend right from the days of their karting.
Even though, the 2008 world champion is coming to the Silver Arrows will highest hopes to win the world championship title. However, there have been a lot of speculations that he may struggle in Mercedes because they couldn’t develop a car which could match
the pace of their rivals in this season.
Besides, Fry has said that they will surely have more pressure to provide the Briton a better car in the next season for which they need to work really hard.
“I think it's a clear indication of the aspirations of the team. We've had probably one of the greatest drivers of all time driving for us, who was clearly in age terms reaching the later part of his career when he arrived with us,” Fry told AUTOSPORT.
Moreover, he said that the competition has become very tough as all the contenders are using advanced technology and the things are changing very fast. Therefore, he insisted that they need to make the most out of the winter testing in order to come up stronger
right from the start of the coming season.
“In order to do well in Formula 1, you've got to do well in every respect. You've got to have the best technology, you've got to have the best teamwork, you've got to have the best management and you have to have the best drivers,” he said.
Additionally, he said that they must make a reasonable in-season development plan to compete well with their rivals in the next season.
