Nick Heidfeld confident for Turkish race upgrades – Formula 1 News
Formula 1 Renault driver, Nick Heidfeld, has recently updated the media that he is confident for the Turkish race upgrades, as he successfully tested them during the opening Friday practice session, at the Istanbul Park Circuit.
Heidfeld went on to mention that the drivers have ability to fight with top contenders of previous races and also, that they can put the team at front on the grid.
The German driver said that they have learnt a lot from the first three races, held in Australia, Malaysia and China, respectively. The season is now going towards the difficult races and the team has to spend bit more time on understanding the race strategy.
Along with it, they have to investigate the main points for their further successful races.
He added that he was pleased to see the 2011 year’s race calendar, because only three races of this season have been finished, while there are so many races to come, where they can score a lot better.
He further, added, “That should bring me in a good championship position, and also the team especially, to fight with the big guns. I have a positive feeling that our car should suit all circuits. But I am not 100% sure that the car will be as good as it
was on low speed tracks, because it really was very good in the last one or two years there.”
He went on to say, “We have a good top speed of course, which can help with the high speed circuits, but I think it is pretty balanced at the moment. I am not focusing so much on that, I am more looking forward and hoping for the updates to work.”
The 33-year-old driver has praised the 2011 year’s car. He admitted that the team drivers have a reasonable package at this moment. However, they are expecting improvements in the remaining races of the season.
The team is going in the right direction, as their both drivers, Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov finished their fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the opening practice session at Turkey.
