Nick Heidfeld hopes Renault will bounce back in second half of 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Renault Nick Heidfeld has said that he is hopeful his team will bounce back on the grid in the second half of the 2011 Formula 1 season, as he believes they have a potential to fight with the current competitors.
Heidfeld mentioned that Renault are ready to compete with the current top teams, which included Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari in the upcoming German Grand Prix, which will be held on July 24, 2011 in Nürburgring.
After a disappointing recently held British Grand Prix, Renault planned to make some developments in their R31 car for the next race weekend. The German is sure that they will perform strongly on the grid in Germany with the new upgrades.
The team driver said, “I know, as [technical director] James Allison has confirmed, and that there are some bigger developments coming than we had at the last couple of races. There has been a tremendous amount of work going on in the wind tunnel so I am
very hopeful that we will take a significant step forward.”
He added, “Four points is not what we're aiming for - we need more, deserve more and we must be proactive in making that happen. I really believe that we will be able to score a greater number of points over the next few races as we have some more interesting
developments to bolt onto the car.”
The 34-year-old driver went on to say that he is hopeful the car will be strong enough to fight the other strong teams in Nürburgring.
Heidfeld had a good start to the 2011 Formula 1 season. However, he seems to be unable to show a positive performance on the racetrack from the last few races due to lack of his car’s pace.
After delivering some new parts in their R31 car, the Renault driver is hoping for good qualifying rounds in the remainder of the season. Heidfeld finished his race in the eighth spot for the team at the Silverstone racetrack.
He is looking forward to a successful race weekend in Nürburgring. Let’s see how he performs over there.
