Nick Heidfeld ready to be back in the cockpit
Formula one driver, Nick Heidfeld will be making his way back to the cockpit next week, and he says that he cannot wait to feel the rush of an F1 car again.
Sauber team had made the announcement that Heidfeld had signed for them and would make his way to the tracks in the Singapore Grand Prix. Heidfeld replaced Pedro de la Rosa for the last 5 races of the season. Nick had raced for the same team last season
when they were known as BMW-Sauber.
Peter Sauber after buying back the team decided not to keep Heidfeld in the team for 2010 season. In his place De La Rosa was brought in and rookie driver Kamui Kobayashi.
However, the decision did not stick and eventually they had to call their former driver for the final 5 races of the season. The last time he raced for the team was in 2009 at Abu Dhabi.
Heidfeld said that he is very eager to prove himself yet again after being let go by the team at the start of the season. Nick said: "I can't wait to get back in the race car. I'm not just very much looking forward to going racing again, as I regard it as
a special bonus that my first race will be the Singapore Grand Prix," .
"Two years ago this race immediately became one of my favourites. Even for a city circuit it is quite demanding. It will be interesting to see how the situation with the bumps has developed. In this regard, the track got worse from 2008 to 2009 and it was
said this would be sorted out.
"The atmosphere at this night race is simply massive. Of course I can hardly imagine how the circuit will suit the car as I haven't driven it yet, but according to everything I saw and from what I have heard, the performance should be better in Singapore
compared to Monza.
The German driver said that is he is able to use the same seat he used last season, it would make things much easier for him. He said that it would not only be beneficial to him but it would also save the team a lot of work. Heidfeld said that normally it
does take a lot of time and effort to get the seat right.
Even though Heidfeld just left the team less than a year ago there have been a lot of changes in the team, and he is keen to get back in the system and get to know people he would be working with.
Heidfeld said : "I'm also very much looking forward to really getting to know James Key and my team-mate, Kamui, and working with both of them."

Meanwhile, Martin Whitmarsh the team boss at McLaren has said that Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel was on his radar 3 years ago, and he will once again make an attempt to sign the German.
Vettel made the world quickly stand up and take notice in 2007 when he made his debut for BMW and finished in the 8th place in Canada.
Toro Rosso quickly moved in and signed him; he got the team’s best position in China where he finished 4th. A year later it got better and he got the first pole position for the team and later the first win in Italy.
Red Bull was a team on its way up and signed Vettel from Torro Rosso, now Vettel is one of the fastest drivers on F1 circuit and one of 5 title contenders this season.
