Nick Heidfeld ready to take action against Lotus Renault GP – Formula 1 news
According to some recent reports, it was revealed that Lotus Renault GP might replace Nick Heidfeld with Bruno Senna for the upcoming race at Spa-Francorchamps as a result of which, it has not been revealed that Heidfeld might take some legal action against
the team.
Heidfeld became a part of Renault after Robert Kubica went through a near fatal accident during a rally event before the 2011 Formula 1 season began. The team decided to sign the German driver since he is experienced and in order to improve its developmental
process, the team needed veteran like Heidfeld.
However, 11 races have been completed so far and the team is now in 5th place as they have not been able to cope up with the top running teams or their closest rivals Mercedes GP either in terms of pace.
The team had a very good start to the 2011 Formula 1 season but after a couple of races, their performance deteriorated after which the team started issuing statements that Heidfeld did not perform up to the teams expectations.
Nick has not responded to the team’s comments regarding his 2011 performance but now it has been revealed that he is hoping to initiate legal action against the team if they decide to replace him.
It has also been revealed that the team is going to replace him because of some ‘financial difficulty’ as well however, nothing has been settled officially by both by sides yet.
The 2011 Formula 1 season has 8 races left and in these 8 races, Renault are hoping to secure the best possible results in order to finish ahead of Mercedes GP in the constructors’ standings.
Renault are currently in 5th place in the standings while Mercedes are just 26 points ahead in 4th place in the constructors’ standings.
Vitaly Petrov has been scoring some pretty decent consistent results for the team but since Mercedes are performing really well, it seems that Renault might not be able to catch up with their rivals as easily as expected.
