Nick Itkin clinch gold medal at 2011 Pan American Youth Championships: Fencing News
The United States Fencer, Nick Itkin, enjoyed the gold medal victory on the third day of 2011 Pan American Youth Championships, on May 30. Nick defeated the Mexican, Leonardo Casillas, in Boy’s Y-12 Foil event for the title victory.
The Y-12 category events, in both boys and girls, were conducted on the third day of 2011 Pan American Youth Championships. The United States’ fencers notched total 12 medals including three gold medals, four silver and five bronze medals.
Nick began the third day with all the bouts' victories in pool matches Boy’s Y-12 Foil segment. Defeating US Tyler Jacob, Nick qualified for the semi-final round. Chilin Gustavo Alarcon was his next opponent in semi-final. Nick found no difficulty in defeating
Alarcon in pre-final round and Leonardo in the play-off. Leonardo ended the third day with silver medal in Y-12 Foil event while Chile’s Alarcon was honoured with bronze medal. United State’s Jacob, who had won the silver medal in Y 10 Foil category on second
day, was also given the bronze medal.
The United States' Cadet Boys contributed a lot towards the medal victories. They productively took at least one medal in each category of weapon. In Boy’s Y-12 Epee event, United States' Aiden Antekeier claimed a bronze medal after finishing third at semi-final

In Boy’s Y-12 Sabre category, Gerardo Flores took the silver medal, while Jalen Thornley ended with bronze medal. Jalen was the gold medal winner of Boy’s Y-10 Sabre event on the second day of Championships.
