Nick Savva’s Greyhound Westmead Melanie Won the Coral Brighton Belle Final on Thursday, 25th August
Thursday night, Nick Savva was the beaming trainer of Westmead Melanie as she emerged victorious at the finish line of the Coral Brighton Belle Final race.
Westmead Melanie started the race with a swift pace and soon had the lead of the race.
She sprinted across the 515 meter race track in 29.92 seconds.
Her father, Droopys Maldini, has a glorious racing record to his name and needless to say the greyhound b***h is living up to her father’s name.
Ricky Holloway’s Airforce Posh was one and three quarters of a length short of Westmead Melanie as he qualified for the second position in the final.
He finished the open race in 30.06 seconds which makes him 14 points short of the winner, Westmead Melanie.
Needless to say, Westmead Melanie was the decided winner of the race right from the beginning.
Airforce Posh had a smooth beginning with the wide path open to him but other contenders crowded him after a while. He had to strive hard to get past the other contenders but unfortunately could not take the lead from Westmead Melanie.
Ricky Holloway had another greyhound competing in the final by the name of Airforce Cougar who qualified for the third position in the race.
There was a minor difference of three quarters of a length between the second and the third qualifier compared to the difference between the winner, Westmead Melanie, and the runner-up, Airforce Posh.
Clearly the result of the final must have disappointed trainer Ricky Holloway a good deal who had high expectations of both his greyhounds competing in this final.
Darfin Katie was the fourth greyhound to cross the finish line with a mere difference of two points from the third qualifier Airforce Cougar. Darfin had an easy start in the race but had some competition later on. A little bit of urging and hard work by
his trainer C. Gardiner might improve his chances of performing better in the upcoming races.
Greyhound was the fifth contender to cross the finish line. He covered the race in 30.26 seconds, twelve points short of the greyhound who finished before him.
There was a difference of one and a half lengths between Cagey Lilly and Darfin Katie when he crossed the wire.
The last greyhound to cross the finish line was Ballymac Minus. She had a lazy start and paid for it with all the other contenders crowding in on her.
This pushing and scrambling continued till the first bend as after that she was the only greyhound in the race to maintain her slow pace.
The Coral Brighton Belle Final was expected to be won by one of the Ricky Holloway’s greyhounds as forecasted by the sport’s analysts but the lady luck probably had Westmead Melanie in mind to grace the finish line first.
Hopefully, Nick Savva would hold up to the standard she has set for herself after the victory in this final.
