Nick Swisher meets Cleveland Indians top executives – MLB Update
The Cleveland Indians management seems eager to sign free agent Nick Swisher but it is up-to former New York Yankees’ right fielder that whether he agrees with their potential offer or not.
Speculations are mounting that Nick Swisher might be given $50 million offer but the nature of the contract is yet to be determined. Some say it will be a four-year offer while other experts say that Indians are planning to offer a short-term contract.
Swisher also recently visited the Cleveland Indians facility at Progressive Field along with some top Tribe’s executives. Before visiting the Indians’ home field, Swisher was taken to a dinner by team President Mark Shapiro, General Manager Chris Antonetti,
manager Terry Francona and bullpen coach Kevin Cash.
Swisher’s agent Dan Lozano also met with Shapiro and others but he is still not telling anything in the media about this latest meeting. Speculations say that Indians and Swisher have made some progress on a mutual understanding but no decision has been
made yet.
"It was great to connect with Nick and his wife, Joanna," said Antonetti. "It was great to visit and spend some time with him. We had a chance to share our thoughts on the organization and where we are, and answer any questions Nick had, as well as reconnect
him with some of his Ohio roots."
Not only Cleveland but many other Major League teams are looking forward to add Swisher. Recently the Baltimore Orioles have also shown interest in him.
The Baltimore Orioles’ executive Vice-President of Baseball Operations lately stated for Nick Swisher, “We've been looking to sign an outfielder for our club, and pending a physical, which is always very important to the Orioles, it looks like we're going
to be able to agree to a deal with Nate McLouth."
Swisher is a highly talented individual and since he has hit free agency market, many Major League teams are getting desperate to sign him.
He possesses large experience in the big league. For last eight years, Swisher has been remained consistent with his numbers. And this is the main reason that every leading Major League team wants his presence in their respective roster.
