Nick Watney is confident to defend his title in the Cadillac Championship in Florida
Nick Watney will be defending his title of the Cadillac Championship this week, hoping to win back the glory, by playing well against the world leaders.
The field is set and the World Golf Championship staged tournament is scheduled from March 8 to 11, at the amazing Floridian site TPC Blue Monster at Doral in Miami.
Last year, he scored a 16-under par and 272 strokes in total. He displayed an amazing performance throughout the four days of the event and impressively defeated Dustin Johnson with a two-stroke lead.
The 2012 episode of the Cadillac Championship is the toughest of all times. Most of the world leaders are in the field, who have been giving their best since January.
Presence of all the leaders at one place is also making the tournament more appealing and attractive.
Watney, a 30-year-old American professional, is confident to lead over the others, as he has enough knowledge of the course. He is also excited to be in the field and to face the top ranked golfers.
"I guess it just fits my eye for some reason," Watney said. "Even the tough holes — No.3, No.4 — they seem to feel comfortable even though they're very difficult holes. … And this being a World [Golf Championships] event, I get a little extra excited and
ready".
He currently stands at the 17th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
His performance in the current season is not so impressive, but his driving distance and accuracy is enough to earn him a lead over the other players.
Watney’s best finish of the year was again at the WGC staged tournament of the Accenture Match Play Championship.
He finished the tournament on the ninth position and proved to be one of the best at the mega tournament of WGC.
However, defending the title will not be that easy in the coming week, because the current No. 1 Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods will also be playing the Floridian tournament.
They are delivering their best and their performance in the current season is appreciable. They both are tremendous at most of the tournaments and ready to go for the Cadillac Championship title.
Hence, Watney has to be more impressive at the TPC Blue Monster at Doral, Miami, so that he can lead again and continue his winning streak of the last year.
