Nicki Stricker will caddy her husband Steve Stricker at the Greenbrier Classic
The 12-time PGA Tour winner Steve Stricker will be accompanied by his wife, Nicki Stricker, as his caddie, at the Greenbrier Classic at the Old White TPC in White Sulphur Springs, scheduled to start from July 5, 2012.
According to Stricker, he was not scheduled to participate in the Greenbrier Classic. Therefore, his regular caddy, Jimmy Johnson, decided to take a week off and returned to his home to spend some time with his family.
In the meantime, Stricker felt a little tired after participating the US Open, followed by two consecutive charity events — the first one hosted by himself and the other by world number one Luke Donald.
As a result, he decided to skip the last week’s AT&T National and added Greenbrier to his schedule.
In a text message to Gary D’Amato of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he said that he added the tournament to his schedule in order to make it to the US Ryder Cup team.
"So I didn’t get much rest," he wrote. "I added Greenbrier because I’m trying to make that Ryder Cup team".
Therefore, he asked his wife, daughter of his long-time swing coach, Dennis Tiziani, to caddy him in Johnson’s absence.
This is not the first time that Nicki is caddying Stricker. In fact, she was a regular caddy for him since he turned professional in 1990, until they got married in 1998.
In addition to that, she also worked as his caddy in the Greater Milwaukee Open and Par-3 Contest at the Masters.
Stricker is currently enjoying the best of his forms, as he has recorded four top-10 finishes in the 10 starts he made on the PGA Tour so far in the 2012 season.
In addition to that, he also has a victory registered to his name that came in the season opener Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
At the US Open, his last tournament on the PGA Tour, he tied for the 15th position after carding a six-over par tournament score.
He now aims to record another good finish when he will tee off at the third edition of the tournament in West Virginia.
