Danish Striker has been warned by Danish Football Association not to play in sponsored underwear again and the striker could face sanctions by UEFA
The striker faces sanctions by UEFA after he revealed a logo of a betting company during his second-goal celebration against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 in their second game of the tournament.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-c9622 Ronaldo’s Portugal. The Dane’s underpants were sponsored by an Irish betting firm, Paddy Power.
The Danish Football Association is sponsored by Paddy Power’s rival firm, Ladbrokes. And Ladbrokes have expressed their displeasure over the move by Bendtner. The Danish Football Association has warned the player against any such action in the future.
Communications director of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 national team Lars Berendt told reporters that the player has been warned and he won’t do any such action in the future.
“We have spoken to the player and he will not play in those [underpants] against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 on Sunday.”
Bendtner has however insisted that he was unaware of any wrongdoing while revealing his branded boxers. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 striker claimed that it was his lucky boxer shorts and he used it in the first game as well.
“It is just a pair of lucky boxer shorts that I used in the first game as well and have used before the tournament. I didn't know that I was breaking any rules but I am aware of it now.”
While Danish FA have just warned the player, UEFA are considering doing more than just a warning. The striker is in the firing line and UEFA want to punish the player to make an example for other players.
UEFA is investing the matter and it is expected that the Football organising body will impose fine on the player. According to UEFA’s rules, all kits should be free from sponsorship and Bendtner has clearly broken the rules.
Denmark will take on pre-tournament favourites Germany in their final group match and Danes would be looking for a victory as they look to seal their place in the knockout stage of the tournament.
