Nicklas Bendtner says he was told to remain patient by Arsenal boss
Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner says that he was urged to remain patient by Arsene Wenger after the player bemoaned a lack of first-team opportunities.
Bendtner, who has missed two months of the campaign due to a groin injury, has yet to make the starting line-up for an English Premier League match and has made just five appearances from the bench this term.
The Denmark international complained to the Press over the lack of chances to star for the Gunners, leading to widespread rumours that he would be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium when the transfer window reopens for business in January.
However, following discussions with his manager, Bendtner has decided to quieten down and work hard to regain his place in the side.
Bendtner told Danish newspaper BT that: "I know my place. I haven't been shouted at by (the) manager, Arsene Wenger, but he has told me the same that he has told the media, that I need to be patient when I have been out for so long. This is something I totally
can understand and I have been clear about this all the time, but I feel fit and want to play from the start. I need to do that in order to continue to evolve. That's just the way it is."
The forward is expected to play a role in the EPL derby clash with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 20 November after missing out on the 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday 14 November.
However, Wenger added that Bendtner was still not fully fit. He told reporters that: "From what I can see he is 95 percent of his best and we hope he will contribute on our side to help us win football games and trophies."
