Nicklas Bendtner to return after international break
The Gunners talented Danish striker, Nicklas Bendtner is expected to be fully fit after the international break. The 22-year-old should be in contention for a place in starting eleven of Arsenal within the next few weeks. After the arrival of Marouane Chamakh
at Emirates, Bendtner now has to face stiff competition to engrave his name in the starting eleven of Arsenal.
The Danish international will, most probably, be the impact substitute and the third choice forward behind Robin Van Persie and Chamakh. Bendtner’s return to the squad will provide quality depth to Arsenal. The Danish striker has not featured in a single
match for the Gunners’ present season, and after his return, he would look to carry on his impressive form for Arsenal.
However, it will be hard for Bendtner to break into the starting eleven of Gunners. The new signing of Arsene Wenger, Marouane Chamakh has had an impressive start to this season and has cemented his place in Arsenal’s starting eleven. Moreover, Robin Van
Persie still is Gunners’ first choice striker, despite of all the injury problems he is going through. The big Dane has all the time in world on his side, he should train hard to maintain his fitness and only then he would be able to get a breakthrough.
Undoubtedly, Bendtner posses a lot of talent, all he needs to do is to improve and become the first choice striker for Arsenal. In the dying stages of the last campaign, there were two only two young guns who took their chances when big names were injured;
Nicklas Bendtner and Samir Nasri.
After an unimpressive performance in front against Burnley in the last season, Bendtner scored a glorious hat-trick in the following midweek UEFA Champions League fixture against Portuguese giants Porto FC. This clearly shows that he is not the one to be
too bothered by all criticism. That is exactly the sort of player that the Gunners will love to have in their squad at this moment, as they have lost two consecutive league matches.
Last year, Nicklas Bendtner was one of the most vital players during the period when Arsenal’s big names were suffering injuries. The 22-year-old striker scored some crucial goals and contributed with some handy assists in that time, and even shouldered
responsibility as Arsenal’s main striker.
Moreover, last season, Gunners eked out a number of results by scoring in the dying moments, and Nicklas Bendtner contributed in many of those games. In the league game against Hull City in an away fixture, Gunners were not at their fluent best, but thanks
to the sharpness of Nicklas Bendtner that helped Arsenal to earn all the three points.
Arsenal was again in a similar situation against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates with the score level at 0-0 after injury time. Bendtner exceptionally thumped in the header from a Bacary Sagna long pass to give Arsenal the much needed win.
Moreover, in the crucial away fixture against Stoke City, Bendtner showed great calibre and equalised for Arsenal by scoring a quality header. Even against Tottenham Hotspurs, Bendtner scored the only goal when Arsenal was two goals down. Nonetheless, the
talented Danish striker is the only ‘Gunner’, who responds positively in adverse circumstances.
Nicklas Bendtner is surely not the finished product, but he can be a one of the great players in the future. The 22-year-old striker has all the time in the world, and should continue to excel under the tutelage of ‘The Professor’, who has shown great faith
in young guns.
Undoubtedly, Bendtner possess all the attributes that are required to be a successful forward. But at present, Arsene Wenger’s squad seems to lack belief and Bendtner return after international break should boost Arsenal’s confidence.
