Nicklaus vs Palmer - The greatest faceoff in golf on film!!!
Jack William Nicklaus, known as ‘The Golden Bear’ in the world of professional golf, has won the PGA Tour an astonishing 73 times, which is the second best among the winning list.
He has been named as the PGA player of the year an impressive five times, and PGA’s leading money winner eight times.
Moreover, he has been named in the World Golf Hall Of Fame and in 2008, he received the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award.
In the world of golf, Nicklaus is undoubtedly a legend. His book, ‘Golf My Way’ is by far, the best instructional book for golfers ever to appear on paper.
Nicklaus is also the only golfer who won the 1986 Masters tournament at the age of 46, becoming the championship's oldest winner.
Nicklaus also became the youngest winner, at that time, of the 1966 Open Championship, which was his aim as a young golfer, who was growing up in a small town of Upper Arlington, in the state of Ohio.
To honour the legend of Nicklaus, the United States Golf Association (USGA), has made a film called, ‘Jack’s First Major’.
This film gives the privilege to witness the intense playoff between Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, the Masters champion and a very popular figure of that era.
The film debuts on sky sports (U.K) in the first week of June. Nicklaus speaks about Arnold as a great competitor and a great support for him in his early era. “Arnold was great, He has always been like that,” said Nicklaus.
This film is being considered as the most anticipated film in the world of golf. The film shows the never seen before footage of ‘The Golden Bear’ and the ‘King’ face off each other to a historic event in the world of golf.
Nicklaus, now 72, seemed happy and humble during local interviews and remembered his encounter with Arnold as one of the best face off he has ever had with any other golfer throughout his professional career.
Nicklaus and Palmer, both have been interviewed by local television channels and they appear very excited about this venture of premiering the greatest showdown of golf that ever took place in the world of golf.
