Nicky Hayden doubts that 1000cc engines will be fun – MotoGP News
American Nicky Hayden and Italian Valentino Rossi have been handed the new MotoGP prototype GP12 for testing.
After the testing of the new Desmosedici GP12 Hayden is not quite sure that the level of excitement with the new 1000cc engines is adequate, as the electronics will play a large part in the control of the machine in accordance to the rider’s input.
The new regulations revealed by MotoGP has announced to increase the engine displacement capacity from 800cc to 1000cc for the coming 2012 season. The introduction of the new category of Moto3, which will replace the present 125cc two-stroke engines with
new 250cc four-stroke power-plants has also been revealed.
The step to bring back the 1000cc era would help MotoGP save its name and size of the premier class gird but the excitement factor may still be at risk, as anticipated by Hayden.
The key factor which holds the rear end from sliding is in result of the development of new electronic gadgets, which is now an essential part of the present generation of MotoGP bikes.
Ducati Marlboro team rider, Nicky Hayden stated during an interview, "The electronics are still going to have a huge part. You know, just compared to the level of electronics that we had in 2006 versus now, they have developed so much. It's still going to
take away a little bit of excitement."
The teams have been addressed to control the electronic usage level for many years and restrict the benefits availed by it in the GP prototype machines. Nicky Hayden is at the point where he understands the need to limit the electronics and its advantages
with new regulations.
The American Ducati rider added, "Hopefully one day they can come up with a way to limit it, so it really puts the control back in the riders' wrist. But at the moment that doesn't really seem possible."
After the GP12 testing done by the world champion Valentino Rossi, his side of the Ducati garage was stating that the 1000cc Desmosedici GP prototypes were more fun and gave some good power-slides.
Hayden has scored his first podium place for Ducati at the Gran Premio bwin de Espana, Jerez circuit. While Rossi was able to climb high during the first half of the race and fight for the podium finish, when he was troubled by the wet greasy conditions
of the tarmac.
Rossi slipped on the inside of Stoner while overtaking him and swept the Repsol rider with him, which ignited a great scene between the two GP stars. Rossi was able to restart and finish in fifth place.
The next round of the MotoGP is scheduled for May 1 at the Estoril circuit, bwin Grande Premio de Portugal.
