Nicky Hayden of Ducati says there are more opportunities at Indianapolis Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Nicky Hayden, rider of Ducati, is hopeful about the upcoming Indianapolis Grand Prix. He believes there are more opportunities at Indianapolis as compared to Laguna Seca.
He said that he enjoyed at Laguna but at Indianapolis, he feels as if he is racing at home. He added that he is hopeful that they will achieve impressive results at Indianapolis.
Furthermore, he said that at Laguna Seca they struggled more that he had expected but at Indianapolis he thinks that they will be able to exhibit convincing performances. At Indianapolis straights are longer, therefore there are more opportunities to achieve
high speed.
Hayden added that it should be nice to ride the track with 1000 CCs and it will be enjoying for speculators of America.
He said, “Laguna was fun, but Indy is really my home GP, just across the state line from Kentucky. Hopefully we can do a good result. We struggled more at Laguna than I expected, but Indy is much faster, with more opportunities to open the throttle.”
Furthermore, he said that last year the selection of tyres was critical but he expects that this year the track will be more supportive and there will be fewer difficulties in making the selection.
The American rider said that he will be disappointed if Ducati does not show its best performance of the current 2012 season at Indianapolis.
“It should be nice to ride that track on the 1000s, and it will be fun for the American fans to really get to see them in action. Last season, tyre wear was critical there, but hopefully the pavement will come in a bit better this year,” the American said.
Hayden has been unable to make it to the podium in the current season, until now. He was only been able to make it to the 6th position in the United States Grand Prix starting the race at 8th place. In the current season, he has not finished the race among
the top five riders.
It will be interesting to see how the American rider performs at the upcoming Grand Prix and whether that performance is better or same as their history.
