Nicky Hayden of Ducati still recovering from hand injury – MotoGP news
Nicky Hayden is still unsure about the upcoming Italian Grand Prix at the Misano circuit scheduled on September 16, 2012.
He is enthusiastic to get back on his bike but his final decision depends on his recovery from hand injury. His teammate, Valentino Rossi, is of the view that they have to practice hard in order to get good results in the race.
He told that he wants to get back on the track and one of his two fractures is healing quickly while metacarpal still has a fracture line.
Hayden said, “I can't wait to get back on the track, but I know that it won't be easy this weekend. My hand is improving and one of the two fractures is healing quickly, while the other metacarpal still has a pretty good fracture line.”
Furthermore, he said that braking on clockwise circuits puts a lot of stress on the right hand. He added that he enjoys racing at the Italian circuit as it is Ducati’s home track and remains positive that he will be able to make it in the race.
Team manager Vittoriano Guareschi told that Hayden has been doing his training while he is recovering. He added that they will assess his physical fitness, with prime focus on hand while braking, on Friday and then they will decide whether he will racing
or not.
Valentino Rossi, the other rider of Ducati, is enthusiastic about the race because of their fans in Italy and a special atmosphere.
Rossi said, “Misano is one of two home races for us, so there will be a lot of fans and a very special atmosphere, as is always the case when we race in Italy.”
He added that the track is challenging but he likes some sections such as the exit from Tramonto corner and the big fast corners. Besides he said that they will have to practice hard to achieve a nice race.
The Italian rider said, “We'll have to work well in the practice sessions in order to fight and to try and do a nice race.”
Let’s see whether the injured rider would be able to make his back to the Misano circuit or his fans would have to wait for some more time, until he recovers, to see him back on track.
