Nicky Henderson, Richard Osgood satisfied with Newbury conditions for Saturday card
Newbury’s Saturday card is likely to go ahead as planned, as the famous trainer, Nicky Henderson is pleased with the conditions at the course.
On Wednesday, Henderson alongside the well-known jockey, Tony McCoy had a keen look at the current state of the track, and expressed satisfaction over the overall status of the Saturday going.
With no problem anticipated during next couple of days, Henderson said that there is no reason why the meeting would not take place according to the present schedule.
"AP [Tony McCoy] and I both walked round the track this morning and we're happy. They've done a great job of covering and I don't envy the job of taking the covers off. The course looks in great nick and to be fair you could race on the Flat track
today, which is not covered, it's that good and there is a nice strip of new ground on both the hurdle and chase courses," Henderson stated on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the existing plan, the venue is programmed to host many exciting races including Betfair Don´t Settle For Less Novices´ Hurdle, Grade 1 Betfair Novices´ Chase (Registered As The Scilly Isles Novices´ Chase), and Betfair Supports Walking
With The Wounded Handicap Hurdle.
Among other planned competitions are Grade 2 Betfair Denman Chase, Grade 2 Betfair Super Saturday Chase (Registered As The Game Spirit Chase), Grade 3 Betfair Hurdle (Handicap), and Betfair. Don´t Settle For Less Novices´ Chase.
The show is due to commence at 12:55, and will be concluded with the Betfair Mobile For Best Prices Bumper Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race (Listed Race).
Despite the fact that the temperature is forecasted to fall down to -4C, clerk of the course, Richard Osgood is pretty confident that the conditions will remain good.
He described that since no heavy snow fall is predicted in the remaining two days, the course will be race-able for the star-studded contests.
He added: "I was very happy this morning and the frost has not got in the ground that much. If the forecast is correct we should be able to keep the cold out."
