Nicky Henderson wary of Sanctuaire’s challenge in Sportingbet Tingle Creek Chase
Sprinter Sacre is clearly the favourite to succeed in the Sportingbet Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown in England on Saturday, December 8, 2012.
However, his trainer Nicky Henderson believes that things will not be easy at all for his runner, as he will have to weather the storm from someone like Sanctuaire, who has also been included in the Sandown list.
According to Henderson, “There is no denying that the Tingle Creek will be a whole new ball game for Sprinter Sacre,” said the trainer. “Not only will he be faced with a natural pace maker in Sanctuaire, but also an extremely good horse.”
He added, “Sanctuaire poses as a big challenge to Sprinter Sacre. It is going to be an extremely interesting race.”
Both the stallions have been doing a very good job for their respective teams over the past many months, but Sprinter Sacre is definitely one of the top performers in the modern era, as he has managed to win races with consistency.
The six-year-old gelding has delivered some terrific results with consistency since making his debut and has managed to maintain high standards during the 2012 season. He has appeared in three events this year, winning all of them comfortably.
No one has managed to cause problems for him on most of the occasions, which means that he is a tough nut to crack at this level. He has appeared in a total of 11 competitions until now, winning nine of them.
The highly talented runner has maintained a very good strike rate. Moreover, he has never dropped out of the top-three, which proves that he is a class act. He is still unbeaten over fences and will look to make his team proud in December.
However, there is an outside chance for Sanctuaire, who has also been delivering some superb performances for his team during this year. His overall record is not bad at all, but it cannot be compared to his main rival at Sandown.
Despite that, the Paul Nicholls’ trainee will be full of confidence at the moment, as he too has been unbeaten in chase events. Therefore, he will definitely give a tough time to Sprinter Sacre in the Sportingbet Tingle Creek Chase.
