Nicky Henderson’s Riverside Theatre will run as a favourite in the Betfred Bowl at Aintree
Riverside Theatre will compete as a favourite in the Betfred Bowl at Aintree, on 12th April, 2012, given a 3-1 chance of winning by the punters.
He triumphed in the prestigious festival, entering the Grade 1 Ryanair Chase (Registered As The Festival Trophy Steeple Chase) as a favourite with odds of 7 to 2, and defeated Albertas Run by ½ a length, mounted by jockey, Barry Geraghty.
The third place was secured by Medermit, who will also be competing in this race.
Trained by Nicky Henderson for owners, the Jimmy Nesbitt Partnership, the eight-year-old gelding already has a hat-trick in the bag this season.
Nicky Henderson may also include Riverside Theatre’s stable mate Burton Port in the running. Burton Port will race as the second favourite, whereas Betfred has given the Alan King trained eight-year-old gelding, Medermit, odds of 6 to 1.
Betfred spokesman, George Primarolo stated to the press:
“Nicky Henderson looks set to have a strong hand in Thursday's Betfred Bowl with Riverside Theatre and Burton Port currently heading the market but Medermit could give them both something to think about with the step up in trip almost certain to suit.”
Time For Rupert, trained by Paul Webber, also looks in good form for this race.
Webber told the media:
“Time For Rupert will probably go for the Bowl at Aintree but we thought it was worth also giving him an entry in the Liverpool Hurdle as things can change.”
He further elaborated by stating:
“We will consider the situation over the next few days and make a decision next week. He has been in tremendous form since Cheltenham and is really well.”
Webber, who trains the eight-year-old gelding for owners the Littlecote Racing Partnership, is excited about the future propspects of his runner’s future.
The son of Flemensfirth, out of mare Bell Walks Run, previously succeeded over The Giant Bolster in the Betfair Graduation Chase at Newbury on 14th December, 2011.
He raced as a favourite, mounted by Denis O'Regan, and landed a victory by a margin of 1 ¾ length.,
