Nicky Robinson will make immediate return for Gloucester
Gloucester will be boosted by the encouraging news that Nicky Robinson will not be forced out of the game with a hamstring injury.
The 28-year-old fly half went off at half-time during the 18-3 win over Bath because of a tightened hamstring. However, he has reacted well in training this week and is due to take his place for the match
against Agen.
"Nicky's trained and he seemed fine. His hamstring just tightened up and it wasn't an occasion where you want people playing half-c**k against Bath," said Gloucester head coach Bryan Redpath.
Robinson has a very complete game and a lot of skill. The club also has a fantastic replacement in Freddie Burns should Robinson's hamstring problem reappear over the rest of the week.
Many positives
This is very positive news because Robinson is in fine form. His game against Bath was fantastic and he will want to continue the momentum he has started to build up. This is important for the game of
any rugby player.
His kicking is fantastic and something that the club can rely on over the course of the Heineken Cup campaign. Had Robinson been forced to miss any games then he might have lost this confidence and belief
in his own ability temporarily.
The club cannot take any risks and is fortunate to have Freddie Burns as a top quality replacement. However, Burns will only step in if there is a problem, which doesn't look likely because of the positive
way Robinson's reacted in training.
"Nicky trained today and he looked alright so it looks like there'll be the two of us for the game. I'll take whatever game-time comes my way in the next couple of weeks," added Burns.
Betting advice
If Robinson does start against Agen then back him to top score in the match. He will be buzzing with confidence at the moment and will want to show off his quality as he may have feared he'd picked up
a bad injury. Gloucester should win the first European Cup match of the season.
