Nico Hulkenberg, Adrian Sutil linked with a move to Williams – Formula 1 news
According to some recent reports, it has been revealed that Nico Hulkenberg and Adrian Sutil are currently being linked with Williams for a possible race seat as a replacement for Rubens Barrichello.
Hulkenberg used to be Williams’ full season driver in 2010 Formula 1 season and quite amazingly, he was able to secure some pretty good results with the team keeping in mind that they did not have a very competitive car.
The young German also secured a pole position during his time with them but still, the team decided to replace him with Pastor Maldonado mainly because of the fact that he was bringing a major sponsor in the shape of PDVSA.
As a result, Hulkenberg is now the test driver for Force India while Adrian Sutil is a full season driver for them.
Since Williams have not confirmed Rubens Barrichello’s stay at the team beyond 2011, there are rumours that the Brazilian driver might retire.
Other than that, Barrichello has been quite frustrated with the team’s performance this year as well and he has stated that the car is not satisfactory at all this year which clearly shows that he is not happy with the team either.
“Our car cooks the rear tyres. The driveability of the engine is bad and in slippery conditions it's even worse. No matter what we do, we can't make the tyre problem go away. We are bringing too many new parts to the car and only confusing ourselves,” he
said.
Williams are currently in 9th place in the constructors’ standings behind Force India and Toro Rosso who are currently in 7th and 8th places respectively in the constructors’ standings.
Force India and Toro Rosso have secured 26 and 22 points respectively while Williams have secured just 4 points which is extremely disappointing for them keeping in mind that they used to be a championship winning team in the late 90s and a race winning
team in the early 2000s.
The team is currently going through a major administrative change as well for the 2012 Formula 1 season after which some improvements are expected.
