Nico Hulkenberg aims to score good points in 2013 Chinese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg has said that he is aiming to score good points in the 2013 Chinese Grand Prix after performing convincingly well in the second race at Sepang International Circuit.
Hulkenberg showed a very good pace in the Malaysian GP and managed to score 4 points for his team with his 8th place finish.
The German driver has said that even though he doesn’t like Shanghai International Circuit very much. Nonetheless, he is looking forward to perform well there. Furthermore, he said that tyres and race strategy will play a crucial role in the third round
of the season.
“The circuit in Shanghai is not particularly one of my favourite tracks,” Hulkenberg said. “Nevertheless it's a demanding one, especially the first few corners and the corners before the back straight. Tyres and strategy will be very important during the
weekend.”
Besides, he said that he lost his downforce in the second race when his rear wing endplate was damaged. However, he expressed that he is feeling relaxed after his first race as he has been able to gather some valuable information which can surely be used
to make further progress in the car.
Additionally, he said that he is confidently targeting to attain competitive points in the next race after scoring good result in the second round.
“At the beginning of the race in Malaysia my rear wing endplate was damaged, which caused a loss of downforce. I have a better feeling now I have driven my first race in the C32, especially because we were able to collect a lot of information. In Malaysia
we scored points and that is also my goal for China,” he added.
The 25-year-old performed really well with Force India during the last season and managed to secure 11th place finish in the drivers’ championship. Moreover, he stood ahead of Sergio Perez and behind Paul di Resta.
The Swiss squad could not attain competitive results with consistency during the preceding season. Nonetheless, they are eying to keep on making some essential progress in their car to achieve better results in this year’s championship. It will be thrilling
to see how they show up in the third race in Shanghai on April 14.
