Nico Hulkenberg announces his exit from Team Williams
Nico Hulkenberg announced on Monday that he has left Team Williams. It was the result of a disagreement on the contract clauses. Hulkenberg and Williams could not reach a consensus on the extension of the contract.
However, Rubens Barrichello has been secured for the next season. Williams were disappointed that they could not reach a mutual point on the contract. They believe that Hulkenberg performed quite well for the team. For Williams, he delivered the first pole
position after their dry spell of five long seasons.
Hulkenberg expressed, "I heavily regret that, because I would have been happy to stay with Williams. I want to thank the team for a great time and I wish Williams all the best for the future."
Hulkenberg remained the test driver for Williams for two years before racing for the team. Reports claim that Williams wanted the 23-year-old Hulkenberg to sign a multi-year deal which would allow HRT to replace him in the second season. Willi Webber, Hulkenberg's
now former manager said that he would soon find the German a new team. Willi assured, "I am negotiating with other teams. Nico will have his seat in F1 in 2011."
Williams' F1 team principal praised the young driver saying that Williams were privileged to have supported the talented driver. He tried to convince the reporters that Williams had a good eye for new talent and that Nico would go on to do great things.
He wished him success in his future endeavours.
Meanwhile, Rubens Barrichello would start his 19th season next year. He is a hub of technical expertise and vital to Williams, never failing to deliver for the team. He was able to land Williams in the 6th place in Constructors’ Championship.
Rubens Barrichello has so far entered 307 grand prix, which is a proof of his experience of the sport.
