Nico Hulkenberg believes that he has started to show his real potential – Formula 1 news
Nico Hulkenberg thinks that he is now showing his true potential in the current season.
The German said that he was a bit rusty after he was mostly sidelined for the 2011 season but the current season has been a good one for him and he is feeling confident of coming up with better performances in the future races.
Hulkenberg is driving for Force India by replaced Adrian Sutil in the current season and has show good promise.
He has scored 19 points in the current season so far. His best finish was at the European GP where he finished fifth and scored 10 points.
The Finn was asked by Autosport whether he would assess his first half season racing for Force India as fruitful and he replied that there have been some ups and downs in the season. One thing is that he feels much better now and is looking that the future
races will give better results.
“Like anybody, a few ups and downs. The high was fifth in Valencia,” he said. “A couple of tough races at the beginning of the season which were interrupted by things that I couldn't control, such as the clutch in Bahrain or the lap-one incident with Mark
[Webber] in Melbourne - races where maybe potential points were there. So I've been unlucky in some places.”
“Obviously I've done my mistakes as well... But since the start of the European season I feel that it's getting better and better, and I feel I'm on the right path,” he added.
Hulkenberg has not yet decided whether he will stay with Force India for the 2013 season or look to move. He did admit that he has felt very comfortable with the team and there is a strong possibility that he will be staying on with the team.
Force India is struggling in the season relative to their 2011 endeavours, but that can be put down to the high competition at display in the season. It will be interesting to see how the Finn fares as the season progresses.
