Nico Hulkenberg expects Monaco to be very competitive – Formula 1 news
Nico Hulkenberg is expecting to be in very competitive race come the Monaco Grand Prix over the weekend.
Hulkenberg explained that the Monaco race should be even more competitive than the Spanish GP. He also said that he is expecting that Force India will be able to improve on its performances at Monaco. The Spanish GP was the first race where the German was
able to score points and is hoping to secure some more in the coming race.
He said that the updated Force India car is much better than it was before the update package was introduced and is expecting better results from it. He admitted that there is still work that needs to be done on the car to fine-tune it as the season goes
along but the base setup as the team wants it to be.
The season has seen all the teams to be really close to each other and little tweaks can make a big difference in the season.  Team principal Vijay Mallya agreed with Hulkenberg and said that the team is moving forward and is trying to steer away from unpredictability.
“I would love to see us performing well this weekend and challenging for points once again,” Mallya said. “We've certainly made progress with the car lately, but the whole grid remains very closely matched. Just a couple of tenths can separate ten positions
on the grid so nobody can afford to take anything for granted. We also know that Monaco can be an unpredictable race so anything is possible. Our focus will be on making sure we qualify well to get track position for Sunday.”
Paul di Resta the other Force India driver has showed during the Bahrain GP that the car is competitive enough to challenge the midfields. Di Resta started the race placed tenth and with a well managed two-stop strategy in the race finished sixth ahead of
Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.
It will be imperative for Force India to perform well at Monaco in order to move up in the constructors’ standings. The Monaco Grand Prix is scheduled for May 27, 2012.
