Nico Hulkenberg feels extremely happy with his sixth place finish in Korean GP – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg is feeling extremely happy with his sixth place finish in the 2012 Korean Grand Prix held at Korea International Circuit.
Hulkenberg performed quite convincingly in the last race and secured an incredible sixth position after taking a start from 8th grid slot. He overtook Romain Grosjean of Lotus at turn two and called the race very exciting as he managed to score
some crucial points for his team.
“That race was a lot of fun and it's great to get such a mega result,” Hulkenberg said. “Not an easy race though, I had the Lotus pushing me hard for quite a while and then a nice fight with Romain generally and even before we caught Lewis. Then with Lewis
a bit more salsa in the soup so quite entertaining.”
In addition, he said that he has taken the most out of his car in the preceding race and admired the efforts of his team for making some impressive advancement.
“It just came spontaneously. Going down to turn three we both had DRS on Romain and I on Lewis then going down the other straight I still had some KERS to close gap and choose outside line where you normally brake,” he added.
Presently, he is standing at 12th place in the drivers’ championship with 45 points. Besides, he is ahead of his teammate, Paul di Resta and is behind Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber.
The Silverstone based team has emerged as one of the most competitive mid-field contenders in this year’s championship and has performed incredibly well in the season so far.
It will be important to mention that the team principal of Force India, Vijay Mallya has said that their aim is to secure 6th place finish in the constructors’ championship. Additionally, he said that they are trying their best to reduce the gap
to their main rival, Sauber-Ferrari in the remainder of the season.
The current season until now has been full of surprises and nothing can be projected about the approaching races but it will be interesting to see how all the contenders perform in the remaining four grands prix.
