Nico Hulkenberg finishes seat fitting at Sauber for 2013 – Formula 1 news
Nico Hulkenberg has completed seat fitting at Sauber’s factory in Hinwil for the 2013 Formula 1 season and is now looking forward to drive C32 in the first pre-season test which will be held at Jerez circuit.
Sauber emerged as the toughest midfield contender in 2012 as they performed impressively well and attained some remarkable results. Moreover, they are the first competitor to pass the compulsory FIA crash tests and to announce the launch date of their next
year’s car.
Now, they are focussing to test their car in the first test which is going to be held at the Circuito de Jerez on February 5.
Hulkenberg performed incredibly well at Force India this year and has joined Sauber as Sergio Perez’s replacement for the next season. In contrast, Perez has planned to move to McLaren and will replace Lewis Hamilton who is going to join Mercedes as Michael
Schumacher’s replacement.
The German driver admired the performance of the Swiss team in this season. Additionally, he said that Sauber have the potential to attain more competitive results in the next year.
“I think I made the right decision by switching to Sauber,” Hülkenberg explained to GPUpdate.net. “They proved that they were able to build a good car which is able to finish on the podium.”
Besides, he said that he is hoping to have a competent car for the next season in order to secure podium finishes.
“I hope that next year's car will have the potential to achieve podium finishes again,” he said.
Furthermore, he expressed that he is very pleased with his performance in this year as he was able to score points with consistency. He also said that he has learnt a lot from his mistakes in the season.
“Yes, I am very happy with the season,” he added. “I think I really learned a lot and improved my performances.”
It will be important to mention that the 25-year-old is going to drive alongside the Mexican driver, Esteban Gutierrez who is making his debut in 2013. Let’s see how the Hinwil based team performs in the next season.
