Nico Hulkenberg frustrated over losing track time during final pre-season test – Formula 1 news
Nico Hulkenberg admitted his frustration over the loss of his afternoon session during the final pre-season test at Barcelona.
The car suffered some technical difficulties and the team had to look into the matter, the issue resulted in Hulkenberg only completed 33 laps on Friday. Hulkenberg hopes to be back on the final day of the final pre-season test.
Hulkenberg’s frustration grew stronger as he missed out on getting track time in the car during the first pre-season test at Jerez as well. The car looked good and was all set for Hulkenberg to give it a go but the day before he was going to take the cockpit,
Jules Bianchi was testing the car and crashed it which ended the test for Force India.
“The day started well with some set-up work and new tyres runs, but we had some downtime in the afternoon, which limited my mileage,” Hulkenberg said. “It's a bit frustrating, but we've had a pretty good winter so far and it's nothing to worry about. I've
got one more day in the car before we travel to Melbourne, so I will try to make the most of it and carry out a full race simulation.”
The second test for the team was quite impressive they completed a hefty number of laps. The reliability and pace of the car was in good standing giving the team hopes of a strong showing potential in the upcoming season.
Paul di Resta is due to drive the car on Saturday and the team’s chief engineer Jakob Andreasen said that the team is going to complete a race simulation on the day. It will give the team a good understanding of the how the car will behave in a race situation.
He also added that the team is very happy over the way the car has behaved so far and said that it has shown good pace and reliability.
Force India have shown good performance over the last two seasons and finishing 6th in the constructors’ championship last season was their best achievement so far. The team is targeting the top 5 positions for the upcoming season.
