Nico Hulkenberg looks forward to attain competitive results with Sauber in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Nico Hulkenberg has said that he is confidently looking forward to attain competitive results with Sauber in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Hulkenberg has planned to leave Force India at the end of this year and is going to move to the Hinwil based team as Sergio Perez’s replacement who has signed a multi-year deal with McLaren where he will replace Lewis Hamilton in the next season.
On the other hand, Hamilton is going to join Mercedes in the next year as Michael Schumacher’s replacement who has taken retirement from the sport.
There have been many speculations that the German driver may struggle in the next season at Sauber and will need time to settle down. However, he has asserted that he has gained a lot of experience in F1 and is aiming to score good points right from the
start of the coming season.
“No — I am bringing my bag of experience,” Hulkenberg said. “Sure, it’s a new car for me, but every other team will have a new car as well that you have to get used to.”
Furthermore, he said that although he is going to drive alongside a rookie, Esteban Gutierrez, but he doesn’t see any big difference in his role in the Swiss team as compared to the Silverstone based squad.
“I don’t see the difference. It is a fact I have more experience (than Gutierrez) on paper, but I don’t see myself in a different role than in Force India,” he said.
“At the end of the day I’m here to collect as many points as possible. Whether you are team leader or not doesn’t make much difference,” he added.
When he was asked about who will replace him in Force India, he replied that he has no idea about it.
“I have no idea, really,” said the German.
The 25-year-old has been considered as one of the most talented drivers in the sport. He secured 11th place finish in this year’s drivers’ championship with 63 points. Additionally, he stood ahead of Kamui Kobayashi and behind Perez.
Let’s see how he performs in the next season and whether he will be able to come up to the expectations of his new team or not.
