Nico Hulkenberg plays down chances of podium finish for Force India in current season – Formula 1
Nico Hulkenberg has played down reports of Force India’s chances of securing a podium finish in the British GP at Silverstone.
Force India has been a team on the up since it joined Formula 1. It came in at sixth in the Constructors Championship last year. It was the best finish for the team and its target for 2012 was to move into the top five ranking teams.
2012 season sprung a surprise for most teams as the season became fiercely competitive and Force India found it very hard to penetrate the top five as teams like Sauber, Lotus and Williams have come up with surprising performances in the season.
“I think it's a bit more difficult (to score a podium), the nature of this circuit maybe is not 100% suited to our car,” Hulkenberg told Sky Sports. “But we have new parts here, new development parts and now we need to find out what they do to our car and
make them work in the right way for us. Then I think we can have another strong result.”
Hulkenberg added that he has been looking forward to the team’s home Grand Prix. He said that he loves Silverstone because the team and the factory is right here just outside the boundary of Silverstone only a couple of hundred meters away. He praised the
track the Copse Maggotts, Becketts are all great corners which brings great pleasure to him.
He also said the track has high speeds and good flow which is everything that you need in a track. He said that racing at your home track does not add pressure. It sure does add more work for the team and the engineers. The team has been trying very hard
to get the desired results at Silverstone.
It will be interesting to see if the Force India and Hulkenberg can come up with the goods at Silverstone to move the team in the direction it wants to. The Valencia Grand Prix brought in the results for the team as both drivers brought in points for the
team.
The team hopes to get similar or better results at Silverstone.
