Nico Hulkenberg says he has no plans to leave Sauber – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg has completely discharged all the rumours suggesting that he will leave his current team after the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix and expressed that he has no such plan.
The Hinwil based squad have recently signed partnership agreements with three Russian companies to get the necessary funds to make the necessary developments in their car. According to their team principal, Monisha Kaltenborn, they were in quite brittle situation before signing the contracts. She even requested the F1 to help the smaller teams which was later declined by the chief executive officer, Bernie Ecclestone who insisted that he has to treat every team equally.
Despite making the deals with the Russian companies, there are some speculations that Hulkenberg may leave the Swiss team after the forthcoming race as he was not paid for the German Grand Prix earlier. However, the German driver has completely dismissed all the ongoing speculations and asserted that he is positively looking forward to perform well with his team in the season ahead.
“No, it's rubbish”, before confirming he would remain with the team for the rest of the season,” he said. “I read it on my Twitter page where people can write to me, and there was a whole bunch of people having a discussion and I was like 'Where has that come from?'”
Even though, he said that he may seek some other good options after this season in order to make his mark stronger as a race driver in the world of F1. Nevertheless, he stated that nothing has been finalised until now and his complete focus is to perform well in the upcoming races.
“I don't know at the moment. I'm looking at all the possible options but I haven't decided yet or done anything so I think that's still more in the longish future to make a decision there. But I'm talking to people - including Sauber - but nothing has been decided,” he said.
Although, he has only been able to score 7 points in the season until now, it will be exciting to see how he performs in this weekend’s race at the Hungaroring.
