Nico Hulkenberg says he is ready to lead Sauber in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Nico Hulkenberg has said that he is prepared to lead Sauber in the 2013 Formula 1 season with his new teammate, Esteban Gutierrez.
Hulkenberg performed impressively well in 2012 with Force India and attained competitive results for his team. Now, he is going to replace Sergio Perez who has planned to join McLaren as Lewis Hamilton’s replacement in the next season. Additionally, Hamilton
has decided to move to Mercedes in the coming year and will be replacing the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher who has taken retirement from the sport.
It will be important to mention that the Swiss team has replaced Kamui Kobayashi with the rookie, Gutierrez so as to maintain its links with the sponsors which mainly include Telmex.
The German driver has said that he is ready to lead his new team and is earnestly looking forward to achieve more in the next year. Even though, he said that he will have a lot of pressure on him in the coming season. However, he said that he will take it
positively and will fight hard to score good points for his team.
“Yes, I feel ready for that,” Hulkenberg told the official F1 website. “It's not a case of bringing extra pressure, it's something that helps motivate me even more, but to be honest I don't see my role as much different to the one I was in this year.”
In addition, he said that he is looking forward to deliver more consistent performances in the next year and is aiming to make the most out of the opportunities which he will be provided in his new squad.
“There is no warm-up phase anymore, so I personally hope that I start performing right at the point where I finished at the end of 2012 and that was very promising point. I am changing teams so there will be 'getting to know each other' phase but I am confident
that this will go smoothly,” he added.
Besides, he said that he will try to give his due input for the development of the next year’s car during the winter testing so that they may attain good results right from the start of the season.
