Nico Hulkenberg says he will wait until December 2011 for Force India’s decision – Formula 1 news
Force India-Mercedes test driver Nico Hulkenberg has said that he will wait until December 2011 for team’s final decision about the 2012 drivers’ line-up.
Recently, team boss Vijay Mallya confirmed that they will focus on their next year’s drivers’ line-up in mid-December and also decide whether Hulkenberg will race for them in the next season or not.
The German is driving for the Force India team during the Friday practice sessions from the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season. He stated that he is looking forward to a race seat with his current team for the next season.
Hulkenberg commented, “Of course you can never be 100 per cent sure. But based on the feedback from the team which has been really good, I am very confident. They have said they are very happy with me.”
The 23-year-old driver went on to mention, “Vijay has already said that he will announce the decision about the drivers on December 15, so us drivers will know a few days before that. Of course I would prefer to find out sooner, but it doesn’t matter, I
just have to wait and stay calm.”
On the other hand, Force India boss Vijay Mallya is looking forward to their best result of this season following the positive last couple of races.
He admitted that the team’s VJM04 car is improving race-by-race and that it fully supported both of the drivers Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta in the last few races of the ongoing season.
The Silverstone-based outfit is planning to bring some more upgrades for the rest of the season. Mallya believes some new developments in their car will provide the drivers an easy and comfortable run on the grid in the upcoming race weekends.
Force India were very impressed with their driver Di Resta’s performance in the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix, where he gave better results to his team by taking a seventh position.
Let’s see what decision is taken for Hulkenberg by the Force India team for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
