Nico Rosberg: Drawing conclusions seem ‘impossible’ at 2012 Australian GP – Formula 1 news
Mercedes AMG driver Nico Rosberg has said that it is impossible to draw any kind of conclusion from the times of both the free practice sessions on Friday at 2012 Australian Grand Prix held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia.
Due to the rain, the circuit was wet during both the sessions which resulted in the lack of reliability regarding judging the standings of the teams. Seven-time world champion and Rosberg’s teammate, Michael Schumacher set the best lap of the FP2 with the
time of 1 minute and 29.183 seconds while remained at third position overall following the pair of McLaren, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.
Furthermore, Rosberg himself set the ninth best time of the second session with the time of 1 minute and 32.184 seconds and was delighted with the start they had at the first GP.
However, he said that he was reading nothing into the time during the practice sessions regardless of the impressive take off.
“I'm pleased with the start to our weekend today in these mixed conditions,” Rosberg said. “We learned a lot for the race here in Melbourne over the two sessions, so it was a very productive day. I feel very comfortable in the car which is the most important
thing for me today.”
In addition, he said that he was looking forward for the coming two days because predicting any kind of result from the drive during the practice was not possible as the conditions on the track were mixed.
“So all went well and we had no surprises, however to find out where we really are compared to the others was impossible in these conditions. So I'm really looking forward to the next two days here,” he added.
Besides, Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn was very pleased after the practice sessions but he was cautious also regarding taking the results as reality.
Moreover, he said that they had been able to accomplish a great deal of work on altering levels of fuel in the car while he said that the overall picture was still unclear and better predictions could be drawn tomorrow when the conditions would get better.
