Nico Rosberg: Mercedes have not done enough in 2011, must remain patient for progress – Formula 1
Mercedes’ Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg has stated that his team has not done enough on the car in the 2011 season.
The German racer added that still there is a long way to go and if the team remains patient, results will come up.
Nico, who finished third in the Silverstone Grand Prix in the 2010 season, added that this year it will be difficult because already the top three teams are into their rhythm while Mercedes are struggling.
Talking about the Silverstone track, Nico stated, “It is a great track, because you have a lot of the fast stuff, which is really nice in an F1 car. You have to set up your car perfectly. The start of course is very unusual, but I think it is going to be
a good one - to have the two turns and then brake into the third turn.”
In the 2010 British Grand Prix, Nico managed a podium finish in Silverstone but stated that doing the same in 2011 will be difficult.
Nico said, “Here in Silverstone we can maybe annoy one of the leading three teams, as we have a lot of upgrades for this race. This year it will be much more difficult. Maybe if it rains, then there will be more opportunities to get to the front.”
He further added that the new regulations which are going to take effect from the Silverstone Grand Prix can have some interesting effects on the race.
Nico further added that his objective in Formula 1 sport is to attack his competitors in every race. He stated that the Mercedes team has a bright future as Bob Bell has joined the team and is working hard to improve the performance of the team in the near
future.
Mercedes are currently fifth on the constructors’ table with 58 points. The first free practice session of the Silverstone Grand Prix begins Friday, July 8, 2011.
