Nico Rosberg: Talk about long-term future with Mercedes GP already underway – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg has said that the talk about his long-term future with his team is already underway.
Rosberg wants to extend his current deal with the Petronas-sponsored team. Therefore, he has already started the talk about his future with the Mercedes team in the last few days.
The German added that it is a great project and he does not want to go into more detail than that. He also mentioned that he is happy as well as satisfied with his team and wants to race for them in future.
Rosberg commented, “We also talked about a long-term commitment with Mercedes. I feel very comfortable in the team. There is a great project. I don't want to go into more detail about it. Yes, we have done that [looking ahead to next season]. We have mainly
tried some things out with the car. We have already implemented some parts, which will help us for next year.”
The 26-year-old driver further stated that he is not looking for possible opportunities with other teams of the sport and hence, he is eyeing to extend his current contract with Mercedes beyond 2012.
Apart from that, the team driver talked about his performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far. He mentioned that he has had flawless season and that he made very few mistakes during the races until now.
He also discussed Red Bull Racing team and added that they have a very competitive package this year. In addition, Rosberg stated that he is sure the 2012 Red Bull car will be more competitive as compared to current season.
He went on to mention, “That's not the right word. It's just that I have to talk about it all the time. They (the questions) always used to be about my father; now they're about Michael Schumacher.”
Mercedes driver is sitting at the seventh place behind Ferrari’s Felipe Massa with 67 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship after finishing 16 rounds of the season so far.
Let’s see how Rosberg performs in the upcoming Indian Grand Prix, which will take place on October 30 at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit.
