Nico Rosberg admits Mercedes GP cannot win races until next few seasons – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg has recently echoed Ross Brawn and Michael Schumacher’s words by admitting that the team does not have the capability of winning races.
Rosberg added they cannot improve drastically at least until the next couple of years.
He claims that the manpower of the team is just not enough to build a race-winning car and that they must get bigger so that they can achieve their goals in a lesser amount of time.
“We need to move up to the (staff) limitations that are allowed. The team has not been big enough to build a winning car, but we have recognised the situation and are strengthening the organisation,” said Rosberg.
The team has been struggling since the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season as they scored some magnificent results during the pre-season testing period but after that, their performance deteriorated massively.
Since the team is keeping both of its drivers for the 2012 Formula 1 season as well, it is going to be interesting to see how the team tries to change its style and probably enable its drivers to perform at their best.
He did reveal though that the team is aware of its issues and they are rapidly trying to make a base and build a big promising team.
“We are now developing rapidly and new faces are showing up all the time. It shows there is a great desire to improve,” he told Italy’s Tuttosport.
The team officially became a part of the sport in 2010 and since then, they have not been able to achieve their goals despite the fact that almost the same team under the name of BrawnGP secured both of the championships in their debut Formula 1 season.
With just 6 races left in 2011, the team is now trying its best to evaluate and acquire as much data as possible which they are going to use for their 2012 Formula 1 car.
