Nico Rosberg asks for pit exit episode with Jaime Alguersuari to be dealt with seriously – Formula 1
Nico Rosberg of Mercedes GP has asked for the pit exit incident to be dealt with seriously after the German driver had to suffer an accident with Jaime Alguersuari of Williams at the second free practice session held on Friday, October 14, 2011.
The second practice session did not turn out to be very eventful for the team, as they were not able to gather much information from the day’s run. It was not as productive as it should have been, and many teams had to drive on wet tyres due to the rainfall
earlier in the day.
The McLaren team was the only team that performed well on the wet track securing the top two positions in the FP2 on Friday.
For others, it was a difficult session as many drivers were seen struggling on intermediate tyres.
“It would be worth reconsidering if the pit exit couldn't be done a little bit differently,” Rosberg told Autosport.com. “It was not great circumstances, it just all came together. He came out at the exact wrong moment. I thought he was going to stop a little
bit more to let me go through, but then he didn't and by the time I realised that, it was too late.”
Rosberg’s accident that broke the front wing of his car and led to an early end to his session, did give him enough time to test on dry tyres which is why despite his collision and early retirement the German has no regrets. He is content with Friday’s practice
session and feels that whatever little information the team has gathered should be used to the maximum for Sunday’s race.
Weather conditions are expected to be dry for the remainder of the weekend.
The German currently sits at 7th position on the drivers’ championship standings with 63 points to his credit.
His teammate Michael Schumacher topped the first practice session however during the second practice session the seven-time world champion could not even make it to the top ten positions.
Rosberg’s performance at the recently held Japanese Grand Prix was quite impressive, where he started off from the back of the grid and managed to make his way through to the tenth position.
Let’s see how Rosberg performs at the Korean Grand Prix on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Korean International Circuit.
