Nico Rosberg claims ‘MGP-W02’ car upgrades for Turkish race are good: Formula 1 News
Mercedes' GP driver, Nico Rosberg, tested the 'MGP-W02' car’s upgrades last week in the Brackley simulator for the upcoming Turkish Grand Prix. However, he admitted that these upgrades will make the car fast on the grid, in the upcoming race weekend, which
is to be held on May 8, in Istanbul Park Circuit.
Rosberg went on to mention, “In the simulator I was fast. We need to keep pushing to try to get closer to Red Bull,"
The reporters have shared their observation about these upgrades that due to these changes, Mercedes can get benefit of one second per lap in its running, during the up-coming races of 2011 season.
After a disappointing start in the season, Mercedes' driver, Rosberg, made an impressive run in recent Chinese race. He applied good strategy work during the course and finished his fifth fastest run ahead of the others strong competitors. The team put step
forward to its success, in Shanghai, however they are looking for a podium position in Turkish race.
Both the drivers, Michael Schumacher and Rosberg had a fuel consumption issue in Shanghai race, but the 25-year-old driver continued his driving with aggression and tried to overcome the gap between top runners and him. After a successful Chinese race, the
Germans got busy and started to planning for this race.
He also discussed his recent race performance. He added that it was disappointing for him, when he was driving with the potential of winning the race when the team asked him to drive slowly on the track, as the car was running low on fuel.
He went on to say, “I was not first but fifth and I had to be alone for a few minutes afterwards. The first two races were not easy at all. After the tests we thought we would keep up with the best and now after Shanghai I believe it again.”
The Mercedes new car's pace on the China grid was much faster than expectations, as their both drivers performed ‘best’ among the strong rivals.
On the other hand, his team-mate Schumacher is still trying his level best to get closer to the top runners of the previous races.
The seven-time world champion had a bad start in the season, as his car had some technical issues in Australia and Malaysia race. As a result of these issues, he could not manage his best run on the grid.
A few days ago, the 42-year-old driver revealed his retirement with the team. He added that he will complete his three-year deal with Petronas-sponsored team and he will start work, as a representative of Mercedes brand.
After three races, all Formula 1 teams are ready to show put in more efforts on the Turkish grid.
