Nico Rosberg expecting a difficult race in Hungary – Formula 1 news
Nico Rosberg is expecting a tough outing in the Hungarian GP, as the high track temperature will not suit Mercedes one bit.
According to the veteran driver, “The Hungaroring is always a track that I enjoy driving and it has quite a challenging layout for the drivers. With all the twists and turns, it feels very much like Monaco but takes place on a normal circuit. Qualifying
will be important this weekend which is good for us, but we know that we have to deliver on Sunday as well.”
However, he added, “The forecast looks hot and it is likely to very demanding on the tyres. Physically it will be a tough race and the lack of straights means that you never get a moment to relax.”
Unfortunately for Mercedes, they will be at a disadvantage in the next race because of the introduction of new Pirelli tyres, which were tested during the Young Driver Test at Silverstone. Although the Brackley based squad was provided with all the data
from the test, they would have wanted to be a part of it instead to get the proper knowledge of everything.
That did not happen though, as the FIA had banned them from the YTD following their private test with Pirelli in Barcelona.
Despite that, Rosberg was confident that his team would come out with a positive solution to the problems they faced on tracks with higher temperature. He claimed that it will be a great achievement for the team, if it ended up scoring some solid points
at the Hungaroring circuit.
Looking at the problems faced by Mercedes in Germany, it seems that the team will be unable to pull off anything special from the next round of the 2013 Formula 1 season. They were looking quite strong after their illegal session with Pirelli, which resulted
in a ban and reprimand for them.
However, things have changed now, as the tyres being used are completely different to what they were in the opening few races of the season. If they are more like the 2012 rubber, that will be bad news for the German giants.
