Nico Rosberg feels delighted with his performance in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that he is feeling delighted with his performance in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco on May 27.
Rosberg secured second podium finish behind the race winner, Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing, in the Monaco GP after setting off from the same grid position.
Even though he tried his best to overtake the Australian driver during the ending laps of the race but could not be able to do.
The veteran German said that Webber’s start was relatively better than his set off. However, he said that he is very much happy with the race result. He also said that he is impressed by the pace of W03 during the weekend in Monte Carlo.
“I was hoping for a good start and I had a good start but Mark had a pretty go start too so then it was just a matter of tyre management. I must say I was surprised how strong we were not only in qualifying but also in race,” he said.
In addition, he said that they have made an incredible progress in the season so far as they have been able to develop the most competitive car.
Although he said that they could have performed better in the last race, however he said that he is still very much pleased with his second place finish.
“Unfortunately it didn't come together perfectly so it's P2 when it could have been P1 this weekend but there we are. I'm very happy with second place of course, it got difficult in end there with rain and warm up on hard tyres but I'm very pleased,” he
added.
Additionally, he is at fifth place in the drivers’ championship with 59 points. Furthermore, he is 8 points ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and 4 points behind Lewis Hamilton of McLaren.
On the other hand, the Brackley based team is currently standing on fifth place in the constructors’ championship with 61 points. Moreover, they are 17 points ahead of Williams and 25 points behind Lotus.
Over and above, they have been trying their best to make the necessary developments and the substantial preparations so as to improve the pace of their car for the races ahead in order to secure a competitive position in this year’s championship.
