Nico Rosberg feels disappointed after 2012 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that he is feeling very disappointed over his uncompetitive performance in 2012 British Grand Prix held at Silverstone Circuit.
Rosberg could not make his way into the third session of the qualifying in the British GP and secured 11th grid position. Afterwards, he remained unable to pocket any points in the race as he came 15th.
Even though, he said that he was aiming to secure a podium finish in the last race, however, he faced many issues which hindered his performance during the weekend in Silverstone.
“I went into weekend really optimistic, thinking if everything goes well I'll be in for podium, but it was really weekend full of setbacks. The weather was up and down, which led to generally pretty crazy weekend. Qualifying didn't go my way. I had few issues
with warm-up because of slow out lap, if you do slow out lap you don't get temperature in tyres and then you just struggle from there on,” he said.
He added, “It was really disappointing to be finishing 15th with no points. It's a long time since I haven't scored points, so that's not ideal.”
Furthermore, his teammate, Michael Schumacher also faced difficulties during the race and could only secure 7th place finish even after setting off from 3rd grid position.
The Brackley based team has been deemed as one of the most competitive contenders in this season. Although, they have been facing some issues with their car, nevertheless, they are eagerly trying to solve the ongoing problems.
Presently, they are standing at fifth place in the constructors’ championship with 98 points. Additionally, they are 38 points ahead of Sauber and 44 points behind McLaren.
Nonetheless, Rosberg said that they are confidently looking forward to come up stronger in the forthcoming races so as to improve their ranking in this year’s championship.
Besides, it will be important to mention that the current season has been quite unpredictable as there have been seven different winners in the first seven races. Above and beyond, it will be very interesting to see how all the teams perform in the approaching
races.
