Nico Rosberg feels extremely happy after winning the Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that he is feeling extremely happy after winning the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo.
Rosberg performed amazingly well in the qualifying of the Monaco GP and managed to claim his third consecutive pole position of this season. He showed an inspiring pace on the race day and successfully scored the second win of his career in F1.
The German driver said that he is feeling immensely pleased to win his home race and admired the performance of his team which provided him with a competitive car. Moreover, he said that they have made some significant progress after struggling with their
race pace in the Spanish GP.
“It's amazing,” Rosberg said. “This is my home, I've grown up here all my life, lived here, gone to school here, so now to win at home is very special. It's a really special day for me and throughout the whole weekend it went really went perfectly.”
“The car was really good, the tyres held on OK and that was really the key to victory today so a massive thanks to the team for having improved from Barcelona and I'm just ecstatic,” he said. “I'm just extremely happy to win this race and also we've had
again such a difficult time behind us.”
After winning the last race, the 27-year-old has moved to 6th place in the drivers’ championship with 47 points. Besides, he is ahead of his major rival, Felipe Massa of Ferrari and behind Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing.
He took a struggling start to the season and remained unable to score even a single point in the Australian GP. Later, he performed convincingly well in the Malaysian GP and secured 4th place finish after taking a start from 6th grid slot. He qualified for
4th grid position in the Chinese GP, but failed to score any points in the race because of his retirement.
Despite securing pole positions in Bahrain and Barcelona, he could not attain competitive results for his team. Nevertheless, he is positively looking forward to perform well in the season ahead after claiming an impressive victory in Monaco.
